Celestia Airdrop

The Celestia Airdrop, known as the Genesis Drop, was a distribution of Celestia’s native tokens ($TIA) to eligible participants, aiming to incentivize engagement and reward early supporters within the ecosystem. A total of 60 million TIA tokens, representing 6% of the total supply, were allocated for this purpose.

Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility for the airdrop was determined based on specific criteria:

• Research and Public Goods: Public GitHub contributors to key protocol infrastructures, including Ethereum, rollups, Bitcoin, and Cosmos, as well as contributors to Ethereum and Bitcoin Improvement Proposals and active participants in Eth Research.
• Early Modular Ecosystem: Public GitHub contributors associated with organizations represented at Modular Summits 1 & 2 and in Celestia’s ecosystem map, along with participants in the first cohort of the Modular Fellows program.
• Early Adopters of Ethereum Rollups: Top 50% of active users of the top 10 Ethereum rollups by Total Value Locked (TVL) as of April 20, 2023, with a balance of at least $50 during the snapshot taken on January 1, 2023.
• Stakers and IBC Relayers on Cosmos Hub and Osmosis: Stakers with at least $75 and IBC relayers on Cosmos Hub and Osmosis, based on a snapshot taken on January 1, 2023.

Claiming Process:

Eligible participants were required to claim their tokens by October 17, 2023, at 12:00 UTC. The claiming process involved adding their addresses to the Celestia genesis block through the official Genesis Drop website.

Unclaimed Tokens Redistribution:

Unclaimed tokens, up to 45 million TIA, were reallocated to developers and accounts that had submitted their addresses during the claiming period. This redistribution ensured that active participants received a larger share, effectively tripling their initial allocation.

Current Status:

As of January 22, 2025, the Genesis Drop has concluded, and all eligible tokens have been distributed. There have been no official announcements regarding future airdrops. Participants are encouraged to stay informed through Celestia’s official channels for any updates.
