Morse NFT Explained: Your Guide to DN404 & Fractional Ownership

Morse is here! The loyal companion for Mitosians, this unique NFT collection consists of 10,000 Morses, each living on the Ethereum blockchain.

The launch of the Morse NFT collection was an exciting journey, kicking off through a campaign on Galxe designed for early adopters of the Mitosis Protocol.

The campaign, called "Project Morse - The Beginning", spanned 20 weeks and challenged users to complete various tasks to earn their eligibility to claim $MORSE.

For those who participated, it was an adventure full of discovery, strategy, and rewards.

About the Morse NFT Collection

Like any good dog, each Morse has its own unique personality and physical traits. Researchers at Lab 404 have been training them with specialized equipment based on their individual strengths and characteristics.

Some Morses love rocking cool shades and Hawaiian shirts, while others prefer sharp suits and ties. But beyond the stylish looks, expect some extraordinary mutations — holographic or even cyborg Morses can be minted!

Morse is no ordinary dog. This rare breed was encountered during an expedition and now resides at Mitosis Lab 404. What makes Morse special?

• It can communicate with humans using Morse code
• It has a deep curiosity for crypto (seriously, it read Bitcoin and Ethereum whitepapers in a week!)
• Its intelligence is linked to a unique gene: DN404

With all these capabilities, Morse has the potential to become the perfect sidekick for Mitosians. But first, we need to study and understand it further.

What is DN-404?

DN-404 is a new token standard, evolved from ERC-404, bringing enhanced efficiency, interoperability, and functionality.

To break it down simply — ERC-404 merges the best of two major token standards:

• ERC-20 (used for fungible tokens, like cryptocurrencies)
  • Token $Morse contract: 0xe591293151ffdadd5e06487087d9b0e2743de92e
  • Use it on Uniswap (or other DEX) to find the right token
• ERC-721 (used for NFTs, or unique digital assets)
  • Morse NFT contract: 0x027da47d6a5692c9b5cb64301a07d978ce3cb16c
  • Use it on OpenSea (or other NFT Marketplace) to find the right NFT Colection

Key Features of DN404

Discover how the minting and burning process works in the Morse Collection.

• Fractional Ownership: Each $MORSE token represents a portion of an NFT. It can be traded fractionally on Uniswap, or as a whole NFT, on OpenSea.
  • When a user's $MORSE balance equals a whole number (e.g., 1, 2, 3), a unique NFT is automatically minted.
  • If the $MORSE balance drops below a whole number (e.g., 0.99), the NFT is burned.
• Retained Uniqueness: Even with fractional ownership, each NFT remains a distinct item.

Important Rules to Remember

Before we move forward with our article, I want to ensure you fully understand some key aspects of how NFT burning works.

🔥 Burn Rule

• If your $MORSE balance falls below a whole number, one Morse NFT is burned.
• The burned NFT is always the most recently acquired one (likely the highest NFT ID).
  • If you own ≥2 $MORSE tokens and two Morse NFTs, the most recently acquired NFT will be burned if your balance drops below 2.

🎯 Recovery Challenge

• Burned Morses go to the back of the incubation queue, making it harder to reacquire the same NFT ID.

View how many MORSE NFTs have been minted in total and by tier. Currently, about 27% of NFTs are minted, with only 5 Mythical Breeds and 183 Legendary Hounds remaining.

Would you like to swap your Morse NFT for a new one?

If you have a randomly generated Morse NFT and you're not satisfied with its rarity score or don't like its composition, don’t worry — you can reroll it as many times as needed.

For example, my first Morse NFT mint was a Lil Pup (base tier) with a rarity score of 8.435. Less than a week later, I swapped it for a Legendary Hound (the second-highest tier) with a rarity score of 767 — a significantly more valuable NFT within the community.

To do this, the first step is to burn your current NFT. If you only have one NFT, the process is quite simple:

1. Create a new wallet on the Ethereum Mainnet network and send some $ETH to it (to pay gas fee).
2. Then, transfer a small fraction of $MORSE tokens to the new wallet, ensuring your balance remains below 1 (e.g., 0.9).
3. By doing this, your current NFT will be burned, so be careful — especially if you own more than one.

Next, simply monitor the Reroll Checker on the Morse Dashboard, as mentioned earlier. When the “NEXT MINT” displays an NFT you like, just transfer your $MORSE tokens from the new wallet back to your main holding wallet.

And that’s it! Within a few seconds, your new NFT will be minted. However, be quick — others may be eyeing the same NFT, so you need to act fast for this strategy to work successfully. 🚀
