1.1 Meeting Mitosis: Opening the Door to a New Financial World
Hello, and welcome to Mitosis University! Here, we’re all "Gakuseis" (students) and "Senseis" (teachers), learning and teaching together while exploring the incredible project called Mitosis. Mitosis is a project focused on solving "divided" problems in digital finance, or Decentralized Finance (DeFi), to build a better world.
DeFi is a financial system built on blockchain technology, letting anyone borrow or invest money without banks or middlemen. Pretty cool, right? But there’s a catch: DeFi has some big issues. Money—or what we call "Liquidity"—is scattered everywhere, and often only big investors get the best opportunities. It’s like having lots of cities with no highways connecting them, and only the rich can afford fast cars to get around. That’s where Mitosis steps in. It makes Liquidity "programmable" - Programmable Liquidity and manageable by everyone, turning DeFi into something fairer and more efficient.

In this chapter, we’ll dive into what Mitosis is, why it’s a game-changer in DeFi, and how our community can learn and use it together. Ready? Let’s take our first step into Mitosis University!
1.2 The Problem with DeFi: A Mess of Liquidity
Think of DeFi as a bustling online marketplace where anyone can trade money freely. Sounds great, but there are some roadblocks. First, Liquidity is fragmented. Imagine you’ve got money on Ethereum, but you want to use it on Solana—there’s no easy highway between these Blockchains, so moving it is a hassle. Second, when you put your assets into a pool (like a Liquidity Pool), they get "locked up," making them hard to use elsewhere. Third, big investors often snag the juiciest profit deals behind closed doors, leaving smaller players out in the cold—just like the old financial world.
These problems hold DeFi back from reaching its full potential. Mitosis comes to the rescue by tidying up this mess and making Liquidity smarter and fairer. Picture Mitosis as a highway network for the Blockchain world—it connects all the cities and lets everyone send their "cars" (Liquidity) wherever they want.

1.3 The Vision of Mitosis: Programmable Liquidity and Community Power
Mitosis doesn’t just fix problems—it makes Liquidity "programmable." What does that mean? Think of it like turning your money into Lego bricks: you can build whatever you want with it! For example, when you deposit money into a Mitosis Vault, it isn’t stuck there. Instead, it transforms into special tokens we call miAsset or maAsset. These tokens can be traded, used in other financial tools, or reshaped however you like.
But here’s the real magic: Mitosis believes in the power of community. Just like Mitosis University, we’re all about learning from each other. Through a system called Ecosystem-Owned Liquidity (EOL), our community pools assets together and votes on how to use them, ensuring everyone gets a fair shot at profits. It’s like neighbors pitching in money and voting on a community project—everyone has a say! On the other hand, Matrix vault lets you pick specific Liquidity campaigns that suit you, like shopping for your favorite items at a store. With these tools, Mitosis takes DeFi to a whole new level.
1.4 Learning and Teaching at Mitosis University
At Mitosis University, we don’t just learn about Mitosis—we share what we know and grow together. As you read this article, you’ll start as a Gakusei, and over time, you might become a Sensei, helping others along the way.
By the end of this chapter, you’ll have a basic idea of what problems Mitosis solves in DeFi and how our community plays a role. Want to dive deeper? Try out the Mitosis app or join the Mitosis University Discord to chat with other Gakuseis and Senseis. Here’s a fun question to kick things off: "What Liquidity problems have you noticed in DeFi?" Toss it out to the community and see what ideas pop up—it’s the perfect way to start learning together!
1.5 The Next Step: Diving Deeper into Mitosis
Now that you’ve got the basics of Mitosis, we’re ready to explore its deeper world in the next chapter. We’ll look at key features like EOL, Vaults, and tokens (miAsset and maAsset) in more detail. How does Mitosis connect the Blockchain world, and how does our community manage Liquidity? Let’s find out together as we grow at Mitosis University!
